Menu Planning

I feel like a Superstar right now. I got inspiration from this Menu Planner, and by "inspiration" I mean I flat-out copied everything she did. Hey--I picked my own color scheme so it's totally different!

I bought an 11x14" picture frame that matched my kitchen cabinets and I liked the rustic look to it. I bought 2 Crayola boxes as the original blogger suggested, but that cost me $10 so my friend Janet gave me an empty business card box and I cut it in half...for free! So my boxes look a little bigger than Clair's. The point of having 2 is to be able to rotate them out. I'll keep them in one box, then as we use them they'll go into the 2nd box. Once they've all been used, we'll start over!

I carefully glued and sprinkled glitter in my lovely natural penmanship to create the word 'Menu'. Or maybe I bought scrapbook stickers. Either way, I'm responsible for them.

The clothespins were easier than I thought. I used an X-acto knife to cut the shape of the clothespin from the scrapbook paper, then I used Modpodge to glue the paper to the top of each clothespin. Clair suggested Modpodging the top as well, and I suppose that would have sealed it and added gloss, but I haven't had success with Modpodge in my craft projects in the past so I quit while I was still ahead. I think the paper look on top is just fine. I did space the 2nd one from the bottom wrong, but in the seconds that it took me to realize it, the hot glue had already stuck it to the frame and I couldn't pry it off without breaking the frame. Oh well.

This project took me 2 trips to Hobby Lobby (one to buy the stuff, one to return the Crayon boxes), and about 5 total hours of work. The hardest part was getting the card stock to print properly in my printer. It was fun and I feel like Martha freaking Stewart! And Matt should be excited because I'm going to let him pick some cards each week. Maybe.
