About
I've always scoffed at the bumper sticker that says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" In fact, I bought one and put it on an anti-Texas friend's car once as a joke. But now I've lived here for more than half of my life and I am proud to call myself a Texas girl!
I live in the suburbs with my husband and 2 children who are sometimes reluctant taste-testers to my wide variety of recipes. I have a husband who doesn't like desserts, a son who doesn't like anything except mac & cheese, and a daughter who eats everything. I manage to compromise and keep them all well-fed.
One of the first meals I made for Matt when we first started dating was a new one for me: Mount Olympus Bake from one of my old church cookbooks. (Those blue-hairs really know their casseroles!) Similar recipe is here: Mount Olympus Bake. It was a cross between Mac & Cheese with Hamburger Helper, tossed with a little too much cinnamon and nutmeg--"too much" meaning "any at all". It was so awful neither of us could eat it. I was mortified. But Matt forgave me, and eventually tried my cooking again. Since then, I've had my share of failures (gray skillet steak, dried-out crockpot chicken) but they are infrequent enough that I can laugh about them, and Matt doesn't even remember them.
Desserts and main dishes are my specialties, and I hope you love them all as much as I enjoy sharing them with you!
